What a beautiful lady

This online memorial was created in loving memory of Margaret Feeney.

Did you know that you were my role model?  My strength?  My hero?  You were all of these things, and so much more.

I will always cherish our phone conversations.  We could talk about anything.  You made me laugh with your stories, such as the time you dropped an entire can of paint on your mother’s head, causing her to wear a garbage bag the next day when she came to help.  I still chuckle when watching reruns of the Waltons and see John-Boy, who you described as a Tuity Fruity.  But, one of the funniest stories you shared was of the time you had an unexpected visitor one evening after you had put your hair up in rollers and had gone to bed.  How you must have panicked when you heard your beau, later to become your husband, at the door talking to your father.  You kept your cool even as rollers were  flying, clothes were being put on, and you made your way downstairs as if nothing was amiss.

We also shared a common bond, a bond not necessarily of our choosing, but one that ultimately made us stronger women.  “We are survivors,” you often said to me of the loss of our children.  Although many offered me comfort, you offered understanding.  Only someone who had experienced such a loss could truly understand the gamut of emotions that I was feeling.  Your understanding helped me to heal, and your courage by example helped me to move on with life.

I know that you have finally met you Lord and Savior, something you lived your entire life in preparation of.   You have now been reunited with Grandpa and Aunt Mary as well.  What a joyous reunion that must have been.  I can see Grandpa’s face lighting up with love as he pulled you into his arms.   I know too, that you gave Michael a big hug and kiss for me and told him how much I love and miss him.  Our world will most certainly miss your presence, but the heavenly world is now being graced by it.

Words cannot express how grateful I am to have had you in my life.  I shall miss you Gram.  Until we meet again…..

Love always,
